My name is May Ooi and I am from Malaysia. I have been a personal trainer for more than 8 years now. Different from other trainers in the industry, my focus has always been about helping people to move better whether it is for athletic performance, general fitness, or rehabilitation.

Movement has always been my passion and that is why during my Master’s Degree in Sports Science, I focus on Biomechanics. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Science, hence my solid foundation in Anatomy & Physiology. But knowing that the industry is evolving rapidly these days, I continue improving my knowledge especially regarding human movement, undertaking several more continuing educational courses such as 3-Dimensional Movement Analysis & Performance System (3DMAPS), Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) & Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS).

But what got me here today is not just my academic qualification but also my own background of being an athlete myself. I practice martial arts since young & I have explored different types of martial arts such as Wushu, Taekwando, Kick Boxing & Balintawak growing up.

One thing that I have learned from the experiences of so many different types of martial arts is that the potential of human movement is truly fascinating. The ability to execute movement control, precision, speed, strength & power in a fraction of a second is amazing & exciting!

Being able to combine both my knowledge of movement & experiences with movement, I’m blessed with the ability to assess & gain insights into human movement in ways that many are not able to. But more importantly, it makes me appreciate human movement even more. I have witnessed over the years, the various body systems interacting & appreciate the complexity & it’s importance. My solid foundation in understanding human movement helps individuals reach their goals. Be it simple movement such as squatting & walking to skillful movement needed for athletic performance.

Whether you are looking for someone to improve your technical skill in enhancing your sports performance, need help in identifying poor movement pattern & muscle engagement that may be causing you aches & pains, or simply want to your bring your overall fitness to the level, I am here to help.

I’m not going to tell you what to do but rather help you learn how your body works because it is not the amount of work that’s being done that matters, but the quality of movement that truly does it. My role is not only to supervise your training but more so to educate you so that you can truly harness your body’s ability to move well. You may think that you can’t move as well as others, but trust me you can, you just need to understand how.
