MOVS (Movement With Skill) is about helping people to improve on their movement health through movement re-education, may it be in terms of solving movement problems or enhancing athletic performance.

In our perspective, healthy movements are movements that are efficient. Imagine the following tasks and evaluate which of the below do you think has better movement efficiency?:

  • Person A squatting up & down easily doing gardening work without any hesitation in movement.
  • Person B has to think through & set position before squatting down & up to pick something off the floor.

*Note that when we talk about movement health, we are not implying strength, endurance, or other fitness measures. But rather, we are referring to the ease of movement that empowers people to feel good while they do their favourite activities*

Based on our experience, there are TWO main reasons why people want to improve on their movement health: Injury Prevention & Performance Enhancement. They may be set as different goals but truthfully, they are just two sides of the same coin. This is because injury prevention & performance enhancement both follow the same set of principles:

  • Awareness
  • Exploration
  • Practice
  • Challenge

The best example to validate the above principles would be how all babies learn movement as they grow. They do not require teaching to learn how to move through their developmental milestones.

Awareness & Exploration: Baby learns to turn over because of the curiosity to explore and reach for something from the surrounding
Practice & Challenge: Baby has to be able to crawl before he/she can stand, and ultimately walk.

Whichever reason it is that you want to improve on the health of your movement, the bottom line is that we are here to help you explore, discover, understand, and own your movement quality.
